Reflections on spiritual unity among all faiths

Losing one's religion can be seen as joke, however, once I lost mine, I found real hope, a solid faith, and feel more blessed than I ever did while trying to walk within another's preconceived path. I've come to believe that religion, as a whole, is the greatest barrier to mankind's relationship with the Almighty.

Once I was open to the possibilities that the Divine might choose for me, rather than me choose for myself, I found so many answers that I had been seeking. By honoring all the inspired texts and listening to men and women from all walks of life, I've discovered that we, as a global society, believe much the same things, and feel the Sacred and Divine in much the same way.

This does not mean that one has to stop singing with the choir of his/her choice, but rather remember that not everyone sings. Some of us may have an instrument to play, while another has different gifts to bring. I may have a broken instrument, and a terrible singing voice, but I have come to know the peace of the Divine, because I know I am accepted. I wish, in all our religions, tolerance was preached a little more loudly, because a violin may not be better than a piano, and our Great Spirit, the One to whom we bring our gifts, is the One to decide.
