Unforgettable weddings

About 26 years ago, my husband and I went to what turned out to be the best wedding ever. Just thinking about it now, I'm tearing up because it was the most beautiful wedding I've ever been to. And even though it was 26 years ago, I still remember most of it. I even asked my husband some questions about it and he couldn't remember the details, but he did remember some very important aspects of this memorable wedding.

The wedding was between two very good friends of ours. And by the way, they are still married today. With the divorce rate at fifty-percent, that's pretty darn good! And from what we can tell, through all the bad and good times these two are still in love, or at least still tolerating each other.

My husband and I, (boyfriend at the time), got to the church just as the bride was standing at the back of the church with her father, ready to walk down the aisle. I took one look at her and whispered to her-"You look beautiful." I gave her a quick hug, and my boyfriend and I slid into a pew. The ceremony was so well thought out and beautiful. It was just incredible. I cried during the entire ceremony, and held on fast to my boyfriend's hand.

As I looked at my husband to be, it was here at this very Church, at this very wedding that I realized that I wanted to marry him. That's what really made this wedding so very incredible for the two of us. Even though my husband couldn't remember the details of this wedding, he agreed with me, that sitting in the Church that day, he also realized that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. (Either that or was just saying that so he would get lucky later on.)

About 200 people attended the wedding that October day and I think every one of us knew this was one of those unions that would last forever. Several of their friends played the music and sang at the church that day. Even the music they selected was beautiful. Everything flowed together so seamlessly. Throughout the ceremony the priest talked about our friends and how much they loved each other. And what I remember the most was that the priest stressed during the wedding how these two were best friends. He said that they were friends first before they fell in love, and that their friendship would endure the years. Their friendship and love would help them so that they could work out everything together. He also said that because they had so many friends and treated people so well that we could help them also.

Even though this wedding we went to 26 years was so long ago, I still remember it to this day. How everything ran so smoothly. And how they planned the wedding so that just about everyone would have a good time. They wanted everyone to apart of this special day and they wanted to have everyone be apart of their life together. That's the feeling I got the entire day. That's the feeling we have gotten from these two people for the last 26 years.

The wedding you plan should be the wedding everyone remembers but for all the right reasons, not all the wrong. When my husband and I got married 21 years ago, we heard many wonderful things said about how we planned ours and how everyone had a great time. I still remember this and I think I always will. And it's not just because my boyfriend and I knew we would get married after our friend's wedding. It's because they showed us how a truly great relationship was meant to be. For they were our role models many years ago. And in some ways, they still are today!
