The 21st century multi-racial society, in an ideal world, is a beautiful spectrum of colors, a rainbow, if you will, that is reflected in skin tones, beliefs, garments, buildings, the landscape, etc.

Racial diversity allows us to co-exist and respect one another's cultures. It permits Muslim citizens to pray in a Mosque on one side of the street and Roman Catholics to say Mass in a church on the other side.

It wasn't terribly long ago that Rosa Parks defied values and norms as they were by refusing to step to the rear of a bus in Mobile, Alabama. She believed folks with differences could survive in a world often hampered by the colorblind.

A decade ago, the Rev. Louis Farrakhan proclaimed he loathed women and Jews. Colorblind statements such as these serve to derail progress. The 911 attacks on the world were another stain on Democracy, freedom and truth.

In the 1980s, the entertainment world came together to make a statement through music. "We Are The World, We Are The Children, We Are The Ones To Make A Brighter Day So Let's Start Giving."

Therein lies the operative word, "giving." We must give of ourselves, in all our glory, commit to the human race, before we are extinguished. We have the wisdom and power to heal.
