One we loved, once we cared,
there was a love that we both shared
He got sick and we knew he would die
I sat on his bed and told him good bye
but after a while I could bear it no more
I left the room and shut the door
All of a sudden I heard him scream
I thought how all the pain must seem
I rushed in the room, we said our good byes
I could see tears yielding in his eyes
all he could say was, honey, please don't cry
his breathing turned to a ragged sigh
then his head fell back and he closed his eyes
I grabbed him up and held him tight
and kissed his lips for good that night
