our kids have had several out door toys. The one that has been the best and has gotten the most use is the trampoline. Lots of people think the trampoline is not safe. i think if you are watching your kids and make sure they follow certain guidelines this should not be a problem. We have your basic trampoline without a safety guard around it. My 4 year old loves it and my teenager loves it. Its an all around good toy for all ages.
We also have toys that sit in the yard and haven't been touched since the first week they were gotten. My dad spent an entire week making my daughter the tree house she desired so much. After the first week it has sat there and is now being used to store toys in and she does not play with it. My advice on a playhouse is to buy one of the plastic ones that is easy to remove and not spend all the money on the nice wooden ones. Although good for storage they just don't play with them.
