Christmas

Santa Claus, Christmas and religions

What is the correlation between Santa Claus, Christmas and religion? As a child, we see Christmas mostly as the Santa Claus holiday. Only when we get older do we began to see its significance with the Christianity religion. Then someday, we learn Santa is not even real and the whole holiday is suppose to be circling the birth of Christ, or Jesus. But even then, we don't stop with Santa's existence; we pass it down to younger children and let his existence continue.

However, Santa Claus did exist. He was a man by the name of Saint Nicholas who gave out gifts to the underprivaledged children. I can only assume that Saint Nicholas was correlated into the actual holiday of Christmas out of the spirit of giving and helping others. A way to additionally enhance the holiday into something fun for people of all ages. After all, what exactly would we be doing if Christmas was simply to celebrate Christ's birth? It should be equivalent to celebrating a birthday, but how would people go about doing that with Christ not physically in the presence? We don't even celebrate the birthday of friends and family once they have died.

Overall, Christmas is a religious holiday that just got enhanced to captivate the majority of the world to participate in it... by adding Santa and letting the marketing nation control it for business purposes.
