First of let me say that in this little opinion article, you are going to be getting exactly that, my opinion. I am going to spit in the face of convention and not bother backing anything I say with fact, I mean why should I bother? facts are boring right? Facts don't do anything but distract us from the real priority of everything and that is coming out with a statement, and being the one who yells the loudest longest and thus becomes right. So now that I have stated my intention let me get one with what is truly important here and that is my opinion.
This last Sunday NFL security caught a New England Patriot's employee video taping the signals of the opposing New York Jets sideline. Well at least that is what they were accused of doing, so far I have not seen any video footage of said video footage, but who needs facts? As you can imagine, this caused a bit of a stir among not only the Jets but the rest of the football world. That is how it is being put by a lot of the cronies of the NFL anyway, though it seems to me that very little attention is being paid to this issue by the fans.
I guess this is why I care about the issue, and why I am taking the stand that I am taking. I care about the game. I love watching the game, hearing the analysts and watching as two teams try to outwit and outplay one another. Then it dawns on me; I am watching the game on T.V. I am using the very same technology that the Patriots are being accused of using. Suddenly my heart skips a beat. Am I breaking the NFL rules? Will NFL security suddenly come through my door and take my T.V. away? I hope not the game I am watching is close and I really want to know who wins. What if I am though? What if by watching the game on television, I am breaking some sacred NFL rule that I was never aware of? I mean could I be cheating? Could I, through watching the game and shouting "watch for the blitz" be in some way telling the coaches something about what their opponent is doing?
Then it dawns on me. I should be getting paid for this! I mean my genius from watching T.V and shouting to the coaches and players is the sole reason my team wins! It has nothing to do with their playing ability, or the coach's ability to recognize the tendencies of their opponent because of watching miles of video tape from the previous games. Bah! Those people had me thinking I had nothing to do with it this whole time, but now I know the truth. The video feed makes me GOD! I am above
