The best way I know of how not to prepare for retirement is to bury you head in the sand and pretend that it will never happen. Live for today ,forget about tomorrow because it never comes.
Don't make any plans regarding finances because everyone knows that because of inflation ,today's dollar is only going to be worth twenty cents when you retire . Tell yourself it's a complete waste of time making any provision for the future by way of investments and superannuation.
Ignore financial planers. They are expensive and only act like fortune tellers. No one has a crystal ball anyway. They are absolute kill joys when it comes to the enjoyment of spending money.
Make sure you vote for a political party that supports social security and pray every Sunday that the government of the day still can afford to pay a pension a few cents over the poverty line when do you retire.
Squander your money on assets that depreciate quickly or become obsolete after a few months. Keep up with all the latest gadgets and buy the most expensive items money can buy.
Now you will probably love these suggestions;- Don't make a will , don't give anyone power of attorney and don't subscribe to a funeral fund. Think of all the fun for the spouse or children if you make it to retirement and then suddenly die. Because none of them have power of attorney any inquiry as to your affairs will be extremely difficult because of privacy laws. Because you left no will, settling the estate will cause your family no end of legal complications and to cap it off they will have to pay for your funeral only to find that your estate is so small it barely covers the cost.
Try not to think about having nothing to do in retirement and don't plan accordingly. There will be plenty of people to assist you and boredom isn't something you need think about right away.
There's one more thing I can think of to help you not prepare for retirement and that is to ignore good advice and take all the bad advice you can get. In that regard I hope I have been able to assist you.
