What parent in their right mind would want to send their offspring off to fight in an undeclared war? Unfortunately, a few would do it- so long as they are able to buy into the idea that the whole world is out to destroy "the American way of life." Getting families to willingly send their children off to protect big business interests and fight an illegal war is the ultimate form of State control over a populace. But let's call a spade a spade here- this conversation we are are having now is not about choice, or voluntary service. Rather, the question above is really talking about re-instituting the Draft in the United States.
Many people today are totally unaware that the US Draft Board has been reinstated quietly under the noses of the American citizenry, and is likely to be re-branded next year under the much more user-friendly name, "National Service". So the question above should really be reposed as, "Parents: would you support the reinstatement the Draft?" How about to include women, as well as boys? All hands please?
Our invasions and subsequent occupations of both Afghanistan and Iraq(and soon to be Iran) were 'undeclared' wars- and both are openly illegal and unconstitutional, as a formal Declaration of War was never passed by the US Congress, only a democratically weak "authorization of military action". We now know that both had nothing to do with protecting the American people, as we can see after six years of dead end, blank cheque, imperial misadventure. These were massive operations conducted in the sole name of corporate interests. So if it's big business directing the State's military policy, then we can hardly call it a 'war'... it's more like a "fascist excursion". The collusion of big business and the government's military protection racket has led our leaders in Washington to announce squarely that they will be willing to 'protect' those Middle Eastern countries who trade oil in US dollars... not Euros. This, to protect the value of the US Dollar as a reserve currency on the global market and avert a total collapse of its flagging fiat value. Which is why Iran is now at the top of the list. Since March 2007, Iran been selling approximately 250,000 barrels of oil a day to China... in Euros. Are we getting the picture now?
The madness of people who profit from a war such as this is perhaps beyond the comprehension of the average American, but enough have bought into the ominous "fear-factor" proliferated by our Neo-Conservative junta and its FOX media counterparts, that staging a war is a just a big PR game. When people opt-in to this type of propaganda program, like any new religion, they tend to leave their own critical thinking at the door and pretty much say 'yes' to anything which seems to come from "official sources".
Here is a little dose if reality for Americans: when your government is run by an extremist Kabal and is passing corporate ambitions through an acquiescent Congress, then you are so far away from the democratic republic that founding fathers fought for. If you agree to sacrifice liberty for security, or in this case the illusion of security... then you have neither. Send my children off to war... who's war?
