Driver safety: Prevent road rage

Sorry people there is simply no solution to road rage. Never was and never will be.
I have driven a car for over forty years and road rage existed then just as it exists today. However forty years ago rudeness was simply called rudeness or just plain bad manners. Road rage is a fairly modern term but it has the same meaning.

There must be some of you that can remember when time was not such a valuable commodity and competition meant friendly rivalry not "dog eat dog." Rude drivers barely existed because people had a leisurely outlook on life and manners were still being taught by parents to their children. Sure there were examples of poor driving ability but manners prevented most of us from shouting abuse and inflicting physical damage on a person. Sure we were angry ,we just didn't know it was "road rage"

Ever since the term "road rage" came into vogue I am certain that because bad road manners finally got a popular name it has become almost fashionable to express dissatisfaction with other people's driving abilities no matter how minor ,with a tirade of foul language and/or actual physical violence. Road rage is now becoming an excuse for venting frustration of all circumstances of our existence not just the daily routine of driving a car. We are like a powder keg behind the wheel of our cars just waiting for some poor fool to ignite the fuse.
These days however the fuse has a very short time delay and we are all to ready to explode. The fact that there seems to be no end to the number of fools on the road these days does not help matters either.

Perhaps we could all just slow down a bit , both in our car speed and lifestyle. Just going back to the basics of learning manners, patience and courtesy may not eliminate road rage but would go a long way to prevention.

Oh, one more thing. I am usually running late for work, with no time for a good breakfast and most days I have a terrible headache from lack of sleep and excess alcohol. The car's engine runs rough and needs repairs so I really am uptight when ever I get behind the wheel. Do me a favour will you? Next time you see a brown battered Ford behind you would you please get off the road and let me pass? You see I'm more important than you and I know you won't mind. Oh, ...how rude. And I did say please.
