The top historical sights to see in San Diego, CA

San Diego is one of the most beautiful coastal cities in the west and is loaded with opportunities for historical adventures and fun recreational activities that the whole family can learn from and enjoy.

One such adventure not to be missed is the world-famous Whaley House, said to be the most haunted house in America. This two-story Greek Revival-style mansion was designed by San Diego pioneer Thomas Whaley and completed in 1857.

If you survive the haunted mansion with it's resident spooks and door slamming, rafter shaking sprites you can relax and unwind in the scenic and one of a kind Victorian gardens beneath the pepper trees planted by Anna Whaley nearly 150 years ago.

The San Diego Natural History Museum is a little less intense but steeped in historical significance. Built one-hundred-thirty-three years ago this Museum offers exciting, colorful, and interactive exhibits.

The whole family will enjoy a complete museum experience viewing major exhibitions, fine-art photography galleries, and giant-screen films, learning about fossil mysteries, which uncovers secrets of 75 million years of this region-from dinosaurs to mastodons.

Located in stunning Balboa Park, this Museum is a flagship cultural institution of San Diego and is surely not to be missed.

San Diego is not only a city of mystery and historic significance but is also a city that knows how to embrace fun and spontaneity.

LEGOLAND California is one of the most interactive and amazing theme parks ever designed. There are more than 50 incredible rides, shows and attractions to choose from, such as Pirates Wanted: Set sail on the high seas in a pirate galleon as you meet other pirates in the new Splash Battle.

Knights Wanted: Knights can test their bravery, on the only ride of its kind in California - the spine-tingling adventure Knight's Tournament.

Plus, check out our other exciting and limitless attractions such as, Firefighters wanted, Drivers wanted, Dig Those Dinos, and Coastersaurus.

For some wet and wild fun visit Knott's Soak City which is San Diego County's largest water adventure park. It's 33 acres of intense water rides and attractions, such as Pacific Spin, a 132-foot long tunnel that drops riders 75 feet into a six-story funnel!

Soak City guests can catch a wave in the 500,000-gallon Balboa Bay wave pool; brave one of Imperial Runs three 80-foot-high vertical chutes or relax in the Sunset River.

San Diego offers diverse, affordable, and unlimited family friendly activities all year round. The only problem will be finding the time to experience everything San Diego has to offer.
