Getting involved in community theater

Being involved in community theater has been a rich and rewarding experience. I have had opportunities working alongside professionals in a major production where everyone learnt and supported each other cast and crew alike. I have gained acting, singing and dance experience and it's enabled me to experience all aspects of theatre both as a performer and behind the scenes. It has provided me with a creative outlet to deal with past traumatic experiences.
Community theatre provides a space to explore various techniques to build confidence, extend or build on your strengths and weaknesses and provide an opportunity to perform in front of an audience. This can provide a stepping stone to further education and provide you with skills and confidence to try for other auditions
I would encourage those with an interest/passion in theater to give it a go.
