Poetry: Swimming

Summer Time Fun

You step into the water
In your little skinny suit
You don't have a great tan
Yet you don't give a hoot

You have come to enjoy the day
A bit of fun in the sunshine
This was the first swimming trip
You refused to be left behind

You wade out a bit deeper
The chill of the waves hit
You wonder in the back of your mind
Should I really do it

You step back a bit
Gaze into the waves
You jump out into the deep
The coldness your body craves

The good old days of summer
Have arrived here at last
You spend your weekends at the lake
Until the summers past
