Wake Up Leaders

Once upon a time a leader was emerged in the lives of her/his people. Yes women leaders, women warriors and still women mothers. The leader grew up in the community, the leader proved capable, understanding. The people starved, the leader starved. The leader glorified, the people glorified. There were no stocks and bonds, no federal rate, no stockholders, no confusion on where a leader's loyalties lay. All things change. Leaders began to seek gain for themselves, they began to hoard, and they began to give their loyalties to the new elites. There may have been stratification before, but here was the difference in one word that has made all the difference, Sacrifice. Once the elites, the exceptional, were directly involved in the lives of their people. They shared their wealth in various ways. By keeping the peace, sharing goods for feasts, making just decisions, solving disputes within the community. They sent their sons and daughters off to war, their sons and daughters married to form alliances.

So why are we where we are today?
Maybe this is because of the inherent inequalities in the old hierarchical systems. The system could function until we grew into states, countries, and a global community. But now we are at a pivot point where we are reaping the choices of the past. The choices that either failed to take future generations into the equation. And choices that failed to evolve at warning signs like slavery, industrial revolution pollution, WWI, Bolshevik revolution, rise of persons like Stalin and Hitler, the cold war, the rise of corporate takeovers (19th C into the present), shriveling ice caps, devastating weather, over dependence on oil, religious stratification, political corruption, financial woes, shrinking middle class, increasing poverty levels, inner city madness, overpopulation, deaths in the elderly population due to expensive heating and cooling costs, kids and adults without health care, massive wars and incursions all over the world, apathy in children, impotence in men, overemphasis on medical aspects of ADD, Autism, Mental, drug and other addictions, etc.
Something our ancestors would have known is that all these things and more are interconnected. And therefore to find solutions for some could lead to finding the solutions for all. To treat them only as if they are separate and distinct issues would be to miss a major point that could lead to the best sustainable solutions for each.
