Product reveiws: Palm TX pda

I got my new Palm TX in August this year and I have been very impressed with its performance and flexibility. I previously owned a Palm Tungsten E which screen was 320 x 320 resolution and had no Bluetooth or Wi-fi, so these 2 features are great additions for me.
For those who have never used a PDA they are all touch screen and most have handwriting recognition to save having a keyboard and in Palm handhelds this is called Graffiti and is very handy when writing as you can just write as you normally would.

The Screen size of the TX is 320 x 460 so videos can be viewed in landscape and portrait modes, so effectively can be in widescreen. The video quality is very impressive and I would highly recommend in investing in a 2GB SD card for those long journeys.
The new palm desktop software is similar to the previous but has a much easier interface for adding photos and videos by simply dragging and dropping and a similar new tab for adding your Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents.
The software package includes many useful programs. Pocket Tunes is an excellent MP3 and WMA player although again requires an SD card to store the music, The latest version of documents to go is included so you can view and edit your documents this time with pictures and the TX's Widescreen means viewing slideshows in full screen is excellent and graphs and other tables are far more easily read in landscape mode.
The standard Email client Versamail is incuded and so is Blazer which is a basic web browser but does its job perfectly. Adobe Reader is included and can be very useful for work documents and thing like bus and train timetables which are always available in .pdf format.
The start menu is similar to that of the Palm Lifedrive it is full screen (Landscape or Portrait) and your favourite 8 programs are shown on screen for easy access and an easy icon to music, videos, photos, documents and all other software.
The status bar along the bottom of the screen is there at all times (apart from viewing full screen presentations, photos and videos) is very useful and displays the time any alerts and upcoming appointments in your calendar, Bluetooth status, Wi-Fi connection manager, Graffiti help and buttons to turn from landscape to portrait and to bring up the standard graffiti tray are there along with search.
All connections (Bluetooth, Infrared and Wi-Fi) are well managed and simple to set up so there are no excuses. I am very impressed with my new Palm TX and I would highly recomend it to any new or experienced PDA user for its ease of use and impressive capabilities not to mention the games.
