San Francisco, The hilly city on the bay is by all means the most scenic city on all the west coast. The city is not only in many opinions the most beautiful city on the California coast line, but also the most fun and most attractive to family vacationers. A day in the amazing city of San Fransisco is never ending. There are an endless amounts of activities to be done all around San Fransisco. The main area that appeals to the family vacationer is the piers by the golden gate bridge. You could easily entertain yourself for a whole day, with out even leaving the piers, and fisherman's wharf. If fisherman's wharf does not take you the whole day to explore, there are also many different ferries that take you around the city on the bay, or take you to the historic jail Alcatraz, which leaves from the same vicinity. Another interesting aspect of San Fransisco is that it has the largest China town in the United states. Take a trip a few blocks downtown and you will feel as if you have arrived in China. The city of San Fransisco has a lot of cultural influences, such as the Italian sector, and the french quarter, But nowhere is the culture felt as much as China town. But no matter where you go, the city is welcoming and friendly and tons of fun.

The piers and fisherman's wharf on the edge of San Francisco right on the bay is a must see for any visiting family. The view of the bay on a clear day is breath taking. Furthermore there are a million and one things to do. Pier 39 is a good place to start, because it is loaded with activity all year round. There are street performers, children's games, delicious restaurants, and arcades filled with adventure for the kids. Not far from pier 39 heading to the higher numbered piers, there are different kinds of museums to interest the whole family. Such as the Ripley's Believe it or not, and the San Fransisco mechanics museum. Other things to do include strolling threw the seafood market, where the aroma of fresh fish and sea food engulf the air, and Ghirardelli Square to find the most amazing gourmet chocolates. If you have a lot of time and a great interest, Alcatraz is another must do tour in the same area. It is an excellent historic tour for the whole family, but beware the summer time it is hard to get tickets and it is really crowded. IT would be better for families visiting in the winter, and for those who have time on their hands.

If this isn't enough excitement for you, It is time to move in a few blocks to China town and explore the far east. It would be wise to take a trolley or a cab, because getting from the fisherman's wharf to down town homes perhaps the largest hills in the city, and when they say hills they really mean mountains, they are massive. Make sure you hit Lombard street, the windiest road in the world on the way. When you get into China town you will know it. You will feel just like you left the country. The culture and history here is enough reason to visit. China town is great terrific place to get a bite to eat at one of many friendly Chinese restaurants. You will find the most authentic and delicious dishes here. Besides the cuisine, there are many different shops to visit with amazing deals on all types of things. Just exploring china town is fun in itself.

This is just the beginning to a whole city full of fun. There is no end to the adventures, friendly people, and beautiful weather to be found in San Francisco. It is an excellent family vacation spot that every family should experience.
