The cost of travel has always been a stumbling block for me. I have wanted to travel to far away places but have managed to find excuses not to. Good excuses though. Like paying off the mortgage, raising a family ,finding money to feed and clothe the family , education expenses and so forth.
For those of you like me with little to spend but with a thirst for far away places may I suggest arm chair travel as being both cheap and a pathway to adventure. Settle down comfortably in your arm chair, lean over and pick up those travel brochures ,select your destination and imagine you are actually there as you read the itinerary and glance at the illustrations. Best of all you can travel from one place in the world to another with the flick of a page ,and adventure is only limited to the extent of your imagination.
If you must have more illustrations for your journey to stir your imagination then buy yourself some travel dvd's. Find that comfortable arm chair once more, play the dvd and watch as your dreams of travel enfold before your eyes. No need for visas ,passports and lost luggage , your journey is a safe as a house. Your house.
Pay TV and free to air travel programs are also excellent venues for travel on the cheap. Once again in the comfort of your armchair you don't have the expensive hotel bills and evening meals to worry about. You shouldn't have to complain about the quality of the accommodation and food should be cheap as well as first class.
I believe however that there are hundreds of books available that give advice on traveling on the cheap for people who actually do intend to travel. One day I am going to buy one of those books and go somewhere and see for myself all these places that I have visited courtesy of el cheapo armchair airways.
One day, but until then, can someone tell me why is it so hard to win the lottery.
