The following statement will come as a shock to most people, so brace yourself.
"WE ARE IN SPACE"
Our tiny planet is hurtling through space whilst spinning round a nuclear sun. We cannot control where the planet is going or when the sun decides to pop. We have absolutely no control over what hits us either. Space is a like a giant pinball game and sooner or later we will be hit by something big.
So when the sun does pop everything on this planet is toast. The question is will life on this planet become impossible for whatever reason, before the sun goes pop? The answer is probably, we are not sure!
Therefore mankind has a choice;
1 We sit back and accept our fate.
2 We try and get off this planet and attempt to populate other planets or live in space.
Thats it.
Everyones view on this is important, but my view is I prefer the second option.
So if like me you prefer the second option, how do we go about it?
Technology and science is the answer.
Moore's Law states that every 18 months the number of semiconductors on a microchip doubles. This law is still going. What this means is that your PC in front of you can compute roughly 1000-2000 million pieces of information per second which is roughly equivalent to a small insect. If Moore's Law holds, by 2050 your PC will be able to compute at the same speed as a human.
How does mankind ensure that technology keeps getting better?
The answer used to be war. It isn't now though. The answer now is consumerism. Therefore all the politics and pressure groups trying to stop consumerism are harming the chances of mankind evolving.
Why are so many people convinced that climate change is happening and therefore blaming consumerism? Because 50-60 years ago when the weather cycle last peaked, we did not have satellites up in the sky looking at o2 levels in the atmosphere, we did not have the numbers of scientist we currently have looking at the climate. Why not? There was a war on.
All current data on climate change is basically flawed because it doesn't date back far enough. The only data with any credibility is ice core samples which only show recent co2 levels up 10-20%.
Essentially the whole climate change thing is a conspiracy, there is not enough data, and it is distracting mankind from the real problem of long term survival. Remember "WE ARE IN SPACE".
