There are times during the day when things seem to be dragging you down? When I start to feel those black clouds looming, or my neck start to stiffen with stress I reach for my little book of laughs. These include jokes or memories of silly incidences with family members, friends and even pets. Here are some of the little things that make me smile.
New Year in Scotland - clootie dumpling, black bun, whisky, friends and song. My dad sitting in his chair, whisky glass on the floor beside him and after a few hours he says to my mum - 'hey, this whisky is awful weak, I've been drinking for hours and I don't feel a bit up or down'. Next moment our family dog staggers across the floor and falls down beside the television set. He slept for three days and smelt really awful.
Trying to impress my husband on one of our first dates we went for a picnic in the country. We laid everything out, ate our meal and when it was time to leave I stood up, only to find I'd sat on a cow pat. He was really reluctant to let me sit in his car and I had to bin the jeans and wrap myself up in the picnic blanket. We got some really funny looks on the way back to the car.
The time when we went shopping in a new DIY store. We lost sight of our three year old son and were searching for him when over the loudspeaker came a voice asking the parents of the little boy 'using' the toilet display to come and collect him. Good job I had a packet of baby wipes and no we've never shopped there since. Kids eh!
Or my husband's version of what women really mean, I can't disagree,
WOMEN'S ENGLISH:
1. Yes = No
2. No = Yes
3. Maybe = No
4. We need = I want
5. I am sorry = You'll be sorry
6. We need to talk = You're in trouble
7. Sure, go ahead = You better not
8. Do what you want = You'll pay later
9. I am not upset = Of course I am upset, you moron!
10. You're very attentive tonight = Is sex all you ever think about?
Every day brings more little joys in life, try recording them in a little notebook and look back on them at some time when you're feeling a bit down. It makes you appreciate what you have, trust me.
