Meat cooking: How to avoid food poisoning

I'm all for life, all against food poisoning. So I'm all for cooking meat through to the other side. For one, I don't get why anyone would like to have meat cooked rare, or even medium rare, where you can taste the blood and flesh of the meat. To me, it's really disgusting; it's also really unsanitary! Think about it: I have a good piece of meat to eat. I know if I cook the meat through and through, it'll taste good and I'll avoid getting any type of food poisoning in the process! Doesn't it sound better than having a piece of meat, barely cooking it, then eating it dripping in its blood?

So I guess what I'm saying here is plain common sense. It's not anything new or original. If I cook the meat all the way, it probably won't make me sick. Not only that, it'll taste fantastic.
