UNDYING LOVE
Her thoughts wandered aimlessly as she stared into the glassy stillness of the blue green lake water. The early morning sun cast its brilliance across the still surface like a golden fan. There were no ripples to disturb the peacefulness of the moment.
As she stared into the watery mirror, his face miraged in front of her. His extended arms were beckoning her to him, his long wavy, steel gray hair framing his round baby like face. Laugh lines creased the corners of his mouth and brown eyes. As they had in life.
Sighing deeply, her eyes sparkled with unshed tears, she remembered the gentle touch of his hands and the strength of his arms. His every touch as gentle and smooth as a rose petal, each sending electrical pulses through her slowly aging body. She wanted to be with him always.
Inhaling deeply, she turned away from the bright reflection of the sun and his reflection in the water. Somewhere further down the edge of the lake, something had created ripples. But looking down, his image remained clear.
A sob shook her slight form as a single tear slid like glycerin down her soft petal smooth cheek. It glittered like a diamond in the rising suns' brilliance.
She turned to gaze at the face, in the water, not hers. His image beckoned her still.
"I will be with you soon, beloved." she murmured, as she lowered her arthritic body into the sun warmed water. She sobbed slightly as the water filled her mouth and nose like warm honey.
"Very soon." she thought, closing her eyes beneath the sunwarmed water, still seeing the image not her own.
Beckoning her to him. As in life, he did in death.
