I guess what it all comes down to is tastes. The Wii appears to be aimed more at people who weren't gamers before the Wii itself. Of course, there's a few games that come out here and there that are actually worth it(like Metroid Prime 3 or Super Mario Galaxy) but when I go game shopping, I spend most of my time in the still lacking PS3 section. The console just attracts me more than the Wii.
The PS3 has, overally, more to offer than the Wii. Yeah, the Wii has a lot of old school games on the Virtual Console, but that's nothing a quick trip on the net can't solve. The PS3's prices for old games is a lot better(you pay as much as SNES games for PSX games) and they also have a lot of remakes or interesting games available for low prices. The PS3 also offer various game trailers and demos, something NOT found on Nintendo's console.
As far as the online side of things is concerned, PS3 wins. Nintendo puts a Friend Code in every console and unless you go completely random, you have to share this code with a friend to play with him. The Ps3 offers a free service and there's always a bunch of different rooms for games, so you know what kind of people you're going to play with. That's a lot more useful.
And let's not forget the SIXAXIS. Some people claim it's a rip-off, but in the end, that's just an existing technology used by 2 companies, one offering you the same thing with better graphics. Better graphics that comes with a price, but then again, that's a pretty cheap price for a Blu-Ray Player. Some people knock on Sony for calling the PS3 an "entertainment system", but it does give us tons of different options and IT IS Full HD ready, unlike the Wii, who's going to look horrible once HD TVs are in every household. Because let's no kid ourselves, in a few years, regular 4:3 TVs will be gone, just like VCRs are no longer announced anywhere.
So did everything I say make the Ps3 better? Not necessarly, considering , as an example, that older people won't care about what the PS3 has to offer aside from its games, and like I said earlier, Nintendo currently has better games. But for high-tech junkies like myself, the PS3 is the way to go. Before I go out, I'd just like to point out that I have both a PS3 and a Wii, and I enjoy both of them pretty much. They just give me a different kind of entertainement.
