Poetry: Summer holidays

As the date draws near
excitement builds,
the Holiday approaches
no time to sit still.
Bags to be packed
and clothes to be bought.
Sun-creams and passports
and much, much more.

The airport is busy,
and full as can be,
with many more travellers,
all as excited as me.
The flight seems so brief,
and goes all too fast,
so that soon we arrive,
on Holiday at last.

Now the days become slow,
deliciously so
with no worries or fears
and no 'Have to go'
To be able to drift
as one desires to do,
to the beach, or a tavern
or even a zoo.

But then all to soon
two weeks have gone by
they seem to have passed
in the blink of an eye
we have to fly home
on a bright sunny day.
Returning to rain
and skies that are grey.

Still one thing's for sure
that when we get home
we can plan next years holiday
and where we will roam.
