Science can be the noblest intellectual activity performed by humans because its goals are to study nature with the instruments of practical observation, measure and interpretation of data, to prove whether the hypothesis made to explain natural facts are true or false.

Science is not a religion and neither an ideology, but a method of objective research on the Earth and outside it, toward the infinite of the universe.
The scientific discoveries, then, can find important technological applications that WOULD improve human life resolving its problems; for ex., the discovery of

electromagnetic waves has allowed technological applications like the invention of radio, radar, TV and so on.

But science, if it wants to be considered useful and reliable, must be free and never conditioned be external powers, interested only to profit, power, monopoles and propaganda.
Despite its beneficial potential, just this is the weak point of the actual scientific world and the most worrying; its weakness towards politicians and their ideologies.

Communism, Nazism, Fascism were authoritarian and violent ideologies that have frequently obliged science to pursue objectives for the improvement of the destructive power of their weapons or for propaganda.
Nazism has obliged the scientific research of its time to make cruel and racist vivisection experiments on Jewish prisoners to follow the delirium of the eugenetics, for the improvement of the German race.
Then, it has sent a long "scientific" expedition in Tibet and Himalaya (1937-38) with the secret goal to find new practices and drugs to condition and destroy personality and will of politic adversaries.

Scientists have been well paid, threatened and blackmailed by their lords to follow certain programs and obtain certain results and the alternative was death, prison or exile.

This has happened massively also in the democratic regimes of USA and Europe, after the W.W.II, where the dominant ideology is that of CAPITALISM and PROFIT, apparently democratic, glittering of promises of work, freedom and gains for everybody, but looking for POWER on us, poor and unaware citizens.

For ex., in USA, at the end of the last war, the local community of physicians of matter were convinced and enrolled by the Government to create the atomic bomb, to avoid that just Hitler reached it as first and to end quickly the war with Japan.
This has ended that war, but starting the "age of the Bomb", in which the world could and can
