I don't think that there should be any laws telling people what they should or shouldn't be allowed to do, as long as what they do is legal.

Members of Congress know the system better than most other people. They know what it takes to push a bill past lawmakers. Many members of congress would be quite successful in this line of work. Senators and House Reps are, in a sense, lobbyists anyway, why not make some money by doing the same thing that they did as elected officials?

After having to serve the public under a certain code of ethics, i think that an honest, well-respected lawmaker would make a an honest, well-respected lobbyist. I think that lobbyists today have gained a reputation (in some cases, perhaps a well-deserved rep) as dishonest, dirty, and unethical. Good, honorable politicians could help turn this trend around.

Maybe with some new laws regulating campaign contributions and other "gifts" that lobbyist give to elected officials, we could clean up the lobby system.
