Comparing dog foods: Finding the best quality and most cost-effective dog foods

When choosing a brand of dog food for your precious pet, you want the best quality, most nutritious, balanced food for the best price that you can afford. You also need to remember that most dogs, will prefer canned or moist food over dry. This is because of the meaty taste. While canned and moist foods are higher in calories and may taste better to your dog, they are not always the best choice. Canned or moist foods can be damaging to your pet's teeth in that the food is soft and does not help keep the teeth clean. Whatever the choice of foods that you choose, remember you have to decide what is best for your dog. When you select foods for you family, you read the labels on the products in deciding what is best for them. Please, do the same thing for you dogs. If possible, stay with a food that has ALL NATURAL ingredients.

I am a Breeder of AKC Yorkshire Terriers and have been breeding since 2001. Over the years, I have sought to find the most nutritious, balanced, dog food for our Yorkies. I've tried all the major brand name dog foods on the market, and while our Yorkies would eat them and seemed to like them quite well, I was always concerned whether they were getting what they required out of their food. Most major brands even paid us rebates to use their food, and while that really helped when feeding 16 dogs, I was still concerned. Then, when pups were born, we not only had to purchase adult dog food, there was the additional cost of purchasing puppy food as well.

Then came the dog food recall. Fortunately, the brand of dog food that we were using, was not affected by the recall. We really started looking long and hard to find a good, well balanced, nutritious, and if possible, natural dog food. I came across Flint River Ranch Dog and Cat Food! The very first bold and underlined statement on their Web-Site was, "NO RECALL On Our Pet Foods". Well, needless to say, that caught my attention and I wanted to know more. I did my research, asked some questions, and ordered some of their sample packets.

Flint River Ranch offers several types of hard and well as moist foods. Their Puppy and Adult Kibble is recommended for all stages of a dogs life, from the growing new puppy to the older active adult of all breeds. Also, there is a Senior Adult Dog Food as well.
