China's privileged trade status was a bad idea for the American people when it was granted and it still is today. But, the idea behind it was not to benefit the American people anyway. Our political and business leaders played into China's hands. Our collective greed and drive for profit at all costs gave China this status.

The truth is this has been in the works for some time. Wal-Mart may have started as a store that sold only American made products but it has grown into an advocate for cheap Chinese slave and child labor.

We as Americans think it terms of a "five year plan" but the Chinese think in terms of plans that take generations to unfold. Part of China's plan has to involve taking over the manufacturing economy that used to be ours in the US. I would say they have done so.

With us not making goods anymore there is only services. We are a society of people paying for services with money we made from doing service work. It is a falsely propped up economy and will crumble.

In the midst of all of this the policy makers in Washington are lining their pockets with corporations in the US. The goods out of China are cheap and yet we are not paying a lower price for the goods. Where is that money going? So why most of us toil at multiple jobs to make money we spend on junk made in China the rich are getting richer.

Privileged trade status needs to be revoked today but who has the courage? Of all the topics that interest me in this election cycle this is close to the top of the list. If the next president would secure our borders, deport the illegal aliens and revoke China's trade status and NAFTA I would vote for him/her regardless of what I thought of the rest of their positions.
