Great crafts ideas to do with your children

With Christmas is just around the corner it couldn't be a better time than now to begin the process of making home-made gifts.

Beaded book-mark
Simple, quick and fun!

Supplies:
"charms (2)
"Bead (6)
18" satin ribbon
Scissors

Tie a knot at one end of the ribbon then thread through the charm and three beads tying another knot to secure the beads in place. Repeat the process for the other side. However, tie the knot on the end of the second charm. Done!

Dress up your gift bags
If you love puzzles then you'll love this craft!

Supplies:
Brown or colored gift bag (any size will do)
Picture from a coloring book
Scraps of fabric or felt
Scissors
Pins
Glue

Find the picture that best fits your theme and cut out the details. Place the cut out pattern and pin to scrap fabric or felt. Once you have finished cutting lay the bag on the table finished side facing you and begin to glue the pieces on the bag. This concept is just like putting together a puzzle. You may add any details to enhance the look.

Grass heads
These are not your ordinary window displaces they're a work of art!

Supplies:
Knee high ladies stockings
Potting soil
Grass seeds
Silly eyes
Fabric paint (squeeze tube)
Aluminum pie pan or old plate

Put cup of grass seed at the bottom of your knee high stocking and then 2 cups of potting soil and tie a knot. Line the bottom of you pan or plate with 1-2 inches of water depending upon the depth of the pan. Place your grass head up side down with the knot at the top and let it soak over night. The next day turn the grass head over and place in the sun (make sure you water daily) in 5-7 days the head will have a full head of grass. This is the fun part creating the face. Glue the silly eyes in place then with the fabric paint put a smile on the head and any other features you want. You may give your grass head a hair cut or let it grow wild. Enjoy!

Treasure map
Doing math and having fun? Hum.

Supplies:
Brown paper bag
Pen
Compass

Cut the brown paper bag into a size you want for the map. Take the compass and figure which way is which and mark in on the map. Count the steps as you walk and be sure to stop counting when your direction changes. Once you have the path marked on the map you can age it making it appear to be old. To do this you will need to use the coffee filter and grounds after the coffee has brewed. Take the filter out and gather the edges and carefully wipe across the map on both sides making sure it is wet, then crumble the map and let dry over night. Good luck finding the treasure!
