I am not a medical expert, however acne has been a number one subject in our household for many years now. I had four teenagers thats why. Now I know for a fact that acne is a disease which means that the skin's oil glands are affected. Acne is considered a common skin disease, and nearly 30 million people around the world have it. Ages most common are from 12 up to 30 years old, but for most people acne should go away by the age of 30. Now don't get me wrong there are a lot of people in their forties and fifties with this disease.
Doctors always say early treatment is the best way to prevent scars. I always followed this cares for my teens. Clean skin gently (luke warm water and soap).
Scrubbing the skin just makes the problem worse. Try not to touch infected area, teens or adults are always trying to squeeze, pinch or pick their pimples, this is where scaring will occur. Young ladies must choose their makeup carefully, makeup should be oil free and alway look for makeup with "noncomedogenic" on the label.
I have been told by many doctors that the myths of what causes acne are not true, like dirty skin and stress. Also, chocolate and potato chip, nuts or greasy foods.
