When I saw this title, I started laughing. I had thought that I was one of the only kids that wrote, literally, MILLIONS of sentences as a child. The ones that really stick out in my memory as repetitive were, "I will not wear my bathing suit as underwear" and "I will use my toys for what they were meant for." It did not destroy my love of learning, and I started writing them very young. I still graduated top of my high school. Especially now, with the huge prevelance of computers and typing, it is rare to find someone with good handwriting. The only downfall? The number of my friends that want me to address their wedding invitations...
However, I did write millions of sentences throughout my childhood. It wasn't really a very effective method of discipline for me. My parents didn't catch on for a long time that I LIKED writing sentences. I would write them in different styles. Today, I can write the same sentence twice and you wouldn't think the same person wrote it...
After my parents figured this out, they used physical punishment on me. Not so much slapping and such. I had to run, do sit ups,push ups and jumping jacks for punishment. Worked well for me later when I joined the Army. I had one of the best female PT scores in the battalion!
