Our family is just starting a tradition. We create books on the life of loved ones after they pass. This book is made in a 3-Ring Binder that every immediate family member gets and can pass down. We buy the binders with the plastic covers so they can be titled and display the loved ones favorite picture of self. For example my grandmother had a picture done at JC Penney's in the 80's she thought it was the best. And now it is displayed on her story.

Inside we gather everything we can find about that person. Copies of Birth Certificate, Wedding Certificate, Divorce Documents, Death Certificate, Death Announcements, Closing documents of their home, copies of junior high autograph book signatures (the ones that speak of the person), maybe copies of cards their kids made them when they were little. Anyway, you get my point. The sky is the limit.

I love these books. Also make a page of memories, things you hear at the funeral or talk about now. The good and funny memories. Your children and their children will actually have a chance to know their ancestors this way. Seeing a picture is one thing, but reading about them is so much more. Try to use their words.
