Does using sex to sell really degrade women? I would have to say, NO. Using sex to sell products is probably the most effective advertising method out there right now. All of these women that you see in these commercials and print ads are in no way being degraded. For most of them, these ads are the least degrading part judging by the lifestyle they lead.

Most of the women in ads like these are models. If they are not models, they are people like Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan. People like these girls should try to be in as many ads like as this as possible. That way they are not making sex tapes to be released on the Internet, or any other crazy things that they do.

I could see if the Ad Agencies made them appear in ads, but they don't. These women choose to be in these ads. They line up for miles to audition. They are just dying to get in these ads. They want to get their face out there any way they can. Most of them don't care what they are doing as long as they get noticed.

If you feel that this is degrading to women then I suppose you will not be appearing in any of these sexy ads. That will be fine for the ones that want to be in them. It is one less person they have to beat for the job. Its like the women in Playboy or other publications, they choose 100% to be there. Nobody is forcing anybody.

The same goes for you. Nobody is forcing you to buy these publications, watch these commercials, read the billboards or buy the magazines these ads are in. If you do buy the magazine, you have the choice to skip right past the ads without even reading them. So I don't see why people think this is degrading.

So, to say that sexy advertisements are degrading to women is ludicrous. Sex sells is an advertising commandment. When you go out on a date, are you going to wear sweat pants or are you going to wear that sexy red dress. I would have to think that if you think these ads are degrading, you would be degrading yourself by dressing sexy.

You dress sexy to get attention and it always works. The same goes for the ads. Sexy ads always sell products and that is just the way it is. These ads get more attention than their less sexy counterparts and they sell more product 10-fold.

If I had a product to sell that you or most people use, but there are five or six or more different brands out there, and I used a frumpy, heavy guy or girl wearing sweat pants. They weren't groomed well or in very good shape, are you really going to buy my product. Or would you buy the product that uses a good looking guy or girl that is in good shape, groomed nice and wearing a presentable outfit. This outfit may be sexy I don't know what is sexy for a guy to wear. Maybe he has a washboard stomach with no shirt on. That is the product that people are going to buy.

I see it even in women's products. Make-up, face wash, body lotion, you never see unattractive people in these ads. If there were, nobody would buy them. Even people that think these ads are degrading to women buy these products. You would buy them because it is easy on the eyes.

What if all product manufacturers just showed you a product with no person in the ad whatsoever. Just the product and a voice over explaining it. You are going to change the channel. Magazines would go out of business, because all of their advertisers would pull out. All of the models would lose their jobs. People like Paris Hilton, God only knows what she would be getting in to. It isn't a smart choice for ad agencies to stop with the sex. They have no reason to stop.
