I believe John McCain is too old to be President. While I agree with RW McAlisdair that no one is too old to be President in general, I believe that at this point in the life and future of our country, he is too old.
Living abroad gives one a very different perspective on US politics. The biggest and most shocking thing I have noticed since living in China is that the world is changing. At times in the United States, we may be tempted to sink into our own lives, our way of life and forget that around us there are amazing (but also threatening) things happening.

Whatever your political views, our country needs a focus and needs a reason to reassert its role as a global leader in a productive and forward-looking role. No offense to John McCain and his policies, because though I do not personally agree with them, many are well thought out and the man does have a good resume, but that simply isn't enough any longer. Americans need to realize that around us the world is changing and we need a competent and progressive President. Unfortunately, this means a politician not raised on antiquated Cold War ideology, but one that has come of age in a political environment that is much different and offers very different challenges than the old order of simply flexing your muscles and having only one economic and military enemy.
I love my country and I would like it to remain important, but I fear that with new countries rising to the forefront in political and economic power, we will not retain an important seat in the world economy if we just sit back and relax. McCain's health concerns aside, we need a leader that will appear strong to the outside world and who has a vision of what we CAN be, not what we were. McCain is simply too old and out-dated to provide this type of vision and ideology steeped in the future rather than the past.
