Where is WWE wrestling heading?

There is no doubt that WWE is in the doldrum now. In recent years, WWE has had a downwards-spiral in ratings due to poor storylines, lack of exciting new talents, as well as top talents such as Kurt Angle, Brock Lesnar and The Rock leaving the organization due to various reasons. Adding to the woes, the recent highly-publicized death of Chris Benoit and the subsequent drug related suspensions of a number of wrestlers has caused morale to drop to an all time low, no matter what the guys are claiming in public.

But is it all doom and gloom for WWE? After all, WWE was once in danger of going out of business in the mid 90s due to you guess it. Poor storylines, lack of exciting new talents as well as top talents like Hulk Hogan, Kelvin Nash and Lex Luger leaving WWE for WCW. As Jim Ross said, the two most important elements that make WWE tick are talent and television. Are the talents we see every Monday night the best WWE can offer? Absolutely not. There is a huge network of talent waiting for WWE to exploit. So I say to Vince, stop your love for guys with great bodybuilders body with no passion and talent whatsoever and go find the next Steve Austin or The Rock.

The Ohio Valley Wrestling is a place where WWE grooms prospective talents before bringing them into the main roster. It boasts great alumnus like Prototype(John Cena), Levianthan(Batista) as well as Randy Orton to name a few. However since Jim Cornette and later Paul Heymen were released from their duties as head of OVW, there has been no success among the talents brought to the main roster. If you want to train guys to be good wrestlers, you need to have a good trainer. WWE needs to ensure that the guys are well trained before being brought up. They cannot put some random guy with no character development and not enough experience live in television and expect him to be " The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment". Some fine tuning is needed to ensure that OVW is as successful as before.

The next source of talent is from the amateur wrestling circle. It baffles me to see the lack of amateur wrestlers turning into WWE superstars given the success of Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle. The NCAA champions from college already have the fundamentals and just need WWE to show them the ropes on how to be professional wrestlers. At worst, these amateur wrestlers would turn out to be Shelton Benjamin, great wrestling abilities but a lack of charisma to bring him to the very top. Why should Kurt Angle
