At first blush, I feel bad for this young lady. But then I realize she's got it made. Sex sells and the world is buying! This is nothing new. We have each other to blame. Look at us! We're writing about it. The mainstream press is writing about it. The paparazzi is out there in force. Why?

Because we love it. We crave it. We put these celebrities on a pedestal and hope they fall. This is news for us because we feel close to them. They're in our living rooms every night. They're the topic of discussion at the water cooler in the morning. They're fodder for the comics we watch after the late night news.

And yes, Ms. Hudgens is going to be fine. Her career as an child actor has now evolved, much like Britney, Lindsay and all the rest of the legions of young celebrities out there. Her life will be chronicled each day. She will be on the tips of everybody's tongues. This is a PR flak's best situation.

Now she gets to dump Disney, which was going to happen soon anyway, and talk about her issue on Oprah! On Leno! On Letterman! She has now stepped out of the Disney-world and into the limelight. People who have never watched the Disney channel are now searching her name on the Internet.

Do I feel bad for her? Yes. I'm a parent, and I would hate for this to happen to my daughter. But honestly, she is about to break out big. It's not right. It's not fair.

But this is what the public wants. And what the public wants, the public gets.
