A lot of folks have attempted to explain why I am allergic to wheat. So many, that I finally realized it actually doesn't matter. My guess now, is that there isn't a lot of money to be made in the world of medicine to pursue each individuals curiosity as to why some of us have certain allergies. It has been my experience to simply avoid anything containing wheat (as in flour...) and enjoy life.

The best, and simplest explanation I have ever heard regarding any allergy was in the form of a joke.

Noticing a friend sniffling and sneezing, this person asked their friend what was wrong.

"I have an allergy", the friend replied.

"No, you have a cold", said the other person.

"No, I have an allergy", insisted the friend.

"I think you have a cold", offered this person.

"It IS an allergy", protested the friend.

"What is an allergy?", asked the person.

The friend thought for a minute, shook their head, and stated, "You're right! It's a cold".
