John Edwards sincerely wants to end poverty. Anyone who makes the argument that Mr. Edwards cannot advocate for the poor due to his wealth isn't really considering the fact that there are not a lot of poor people in the Congress or the Senate who are poor. If someone who is wealthy does not advocate for the poor, who will? No one. The wealthiest people in this nation seem to have plenty of advocates, so why not give someone a chance who wants to improve the lives of those that are less fortunate?

For some reason Edwards seems to ooze a sense of insincerity on a number of issues. He has been portrayed by the political machinery and/or media as being a pretty boy and a lightweight. He has a difficult time getting past that hurdle and unless he does being elected president becomes less likely.

However, of all the candidates, he appears to understand the pain of the underprivileged the best. He just needs to learn to be a better advocate for himself and the issues. Let the issue of poverty play out later on. Unfortunately, poverty just isn't an issue that many voters really care about. We are a selfish society that is only concerned when an issue affects us. Although poverty may be a moral issue that needs to be addressed, it just isn't going to be a campaign tenet that is going to bring out the finances or the votes for his campaign.

He would be better served address the miserable economy and the National debt and tie that into the economic woes in this country.

Edwards has the right idea. He is trying to affect change in a moral issue that our nation should grapple with, but he needs to become smarter in how he campaigns on that issue for it to ever be effective.
