In 1968, Mod Squad hit the airways. In 1968, the elements of a story settle in my heart. It is now 1982 and in reality, I am in my late twenties, but as my eyes cross over the words that said Mod Squad star, Michael Cole is coming to open this new theater, I become the eighth grade girl who fell in love with this new heartthrob of the 60's.
I was getting a job at this place; I cared little about the qualifications or the fact that it was twenty miles away, or how I was supposed to manage my teaching job with a job at the theater, all I knew was that I was getting a job at this place. I read, at some point, that they needed people to answer the phones in the box office. I could talk, I could take a message, and I could do this. I drove into the parking lot with all the confidence I needed and started work that very week end. The first week end box office manager waits to watch Michael walk into the lobby and still keep her job.

He often made me work for a role in my first professional play. I auditioned, I auditioned, and I auditioned again. With each attempt, I tried to bring a unique interpretation. I knew I was out of my league as I listened to the others that longed to be on stage, but I kept smiling. When I returned to the box office, I tossed my acting character aside and did what I was expected to do. Consequently, I was in the cast with Fyvush Finkle playing Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof. I was the young postulant in The Sound of Music and I was cast as a girlfriend for Pat Brien's character grandson in The Second Time Around. Like the Bugs Bunny cartoon where he and Elmer Fudd change their character and mood to match the type of hat that had fallen on their heads , this producer had me running the box office and co-acting with the celebrity
