Commentary: US Congress questions General Patraeus about the Iraq War

Did anyone else become completely ashamed of our government officials after seeing their disgusting display of questioning toward General Petraeus?

General Petraeus' report shows a great deal of advancement in the war and he was not only unable to respond to many of the extraneous questions by State Representatives due to their rude interruptions but, many of their questions were stated in such a way as to only disgrace the military and advance their political ideology.

I find it very perplexing that the US was 'winning the war' until the House and Senate were overtaken by Democrats in 2006. In that moment war coverage changed, almost automatically the US was 'losing the war,' they were 'incompetent warmongers fighting a cause we have no business involving ourselves in.' I find it funny how the upheaval of American voters stopped a nauseating immigration bill due to a flood of angry calls threatening to remove support from State Representatives and yet with an "even greater American outcry" for a total removal from the Iraq War and loss of support for all things connected, the war goes on; funding is supported, the bulking of troops is voted in, etc. Maybe I am missing something but, I see it that if there were such an immense outcry for retreat by the majority of American voters, if there were such a great American loss against Al Qaeda and their comrades, etc then the outcry toward US Representatives would be so overwhelming, irregardless of the party they represent, that our participation in the war would have ended immediately, the troops would return home and life would return to normal.' But that doesn't happen. I can only rationalize that this is because the 'tremendous outcry' isn't nearly as great as the Representatives would like for us to believe. I understand that the majority of American voters want change in the war, myself included, but do they really want a complete removal of American forces from the war in Iraq only to lie in wait for an insurgency to return to US soil? It is a well-known fact that Al Qaeda cells are well imbedded throughout the United States. There is a large and well-documented cell only one hour from where I live! It is my belief that Al Qaeda, and associated extremists, will continue to attack nonconformist infidels' of the United States, and other nations, until we win this war. We, as a nation, have been very lucky to have avoided terrorist activity on American soil since September 11, 2001. I firmly
