What is emotional intelligence?

When I pronounce that phrase it tends to make what is spontaneous a bit more structured. I'm pretty sure that when your being intelligent about your emotions....it most likely refers to being in control. I can go on and fill the screen up explaining exactly how you can be intelligent about what your feeling, or how to redirect it into something more positive, or I can even tell you that being emotionally smart can help you understand others....then again isn't this topic under psychology?

Before you learn all that, there's something you have to understand. It may be a bit harder than you think. You have to understand yourself. This really does sound simple maybe more for some than others, we have to remember that just the fact of being male or female can change things a bit. When I think about myself in terms with this topic, I must say sometimes I find myself experiencing different emotions. I am sure that at different stages in our lives we feel new things or maybe we feel things a little bit more different. I do feel however that sometimes we must learn to deal with these new emotions. Part of emotional intelligence involves learning to understand and deal with new feelings.
I don't feel emotional intelligence to be like GPA where the more you learn the smarter you are. I think that a lot of what we feel is spontaneous, I'm not able to tell you what I'll feel a week from now, I don't know that yet. I do know that the faster I realize what it is I'm feeling, the easier it'll be for me to handle the situation I'm in.
I do know that understanding what your feeling can lead to be a more self aware, confident, understanding person, and if your gifted with the capacity to understand some of life's most complicated topics... then you should definitely use your talent to motivate, help, and heal others.
