Fighting The Storm:
Ghost town. Wind swirls through the curving roads moaning like a restless spirit. Abandoned litter blown away cleansing the streets. Intense silence; haunting the damp air. Sails shudder with the quickening of the wind. The innocence of white drifting clouds slowly approaching.
I embrace myself. I can smell the storm. My fingers and numb with chilling anger. The pale clouds rumble in disgust, I do not fear them. Mother nature looks me in the eye, I look back, she does not hesitate; suddenly a platoon of furious royal blue raindrops maul my quickly drenched body. Wave after wave of vicious rain slashes me. I try to fight back but I'm pinned with her companion that is the wind. I break free and fall into retreat, struggling to gain speed as I stumble along the path. I overpower the wind forcing it to step aside as I continue. Aqua spears of rain beating in time with my racing heart; a cascade of water ambushes me, collapsing from a pressured roof.
I dodge a barrage of lighting, hitting an aging tree, it screams as it's withered roots tear and it plummets to the ground. I move quickly; a constant hose of rain challenges me. The water makes my coat clench me tight, holding on for its life. I reach the boat and slide along the deck; the wearing structure sighs in distress, shaking from side to side like a flickering flame. I close the door, the wind makes one last stand; I'm safe.
The swaying boat cries out in pain; gravity forces my own positions to turn there back on me and attack me with all their strength.
