Why women think men go for looks

by Penny B

Women think that men go more for looks than brains because their actions prove that very theory. In fact, a lot of men will even tell you that this is so. You can't get much more definitive than that.

Men are "visual" creatures, moreso than women. Women are less likey to look for a mate merely on looks. I suppose since the beginning of time, we've needed a man with strength and verility, both, in order to go out into the world to hunt and forage for food, but also to produce good, healthy, strong sons. Life, in beginning times was very harsh and people didn't live as long. So, in order to carry on the species, we needed good strong men to give us lots of healthy, strong children. I suppose to this day, women do look for a man who is able to provide well for their family.

Although, men have, over time, also considered which women they thought would be good candidates for reproductive purposes, they are still more inclined towards looks. It's very apparent when out in the dating field. Each man has his own preferrence as to whether they're attracted to blondes, brunettes or redheads. Some men also have a preferrence for size, whether it be bust size, the size of her derrierre, or even if he prefers tall to short. Eye color also comes into play as well as other various body parts, such as hands and feet. Men are also more inclined to have "fetishes" moreso than women, and this too is because of their "visual" nature.

When a man is considering looking for a mate, he will very rarely think about a woman's intelligence level, whether she would even make a good mother, or if she can actually maintain a home and/or job well. Often times, they don't find out until well into a marriage that things aren't going as well as they would have hoped. She might not keep a neat, organized home. She might not be as intelligent as he would have wished...or she might be too smart. She might not even enjoy the same things that he does. Then he finds himself in the dilemma of not feeling compatible with his choice....all because he was going for looks instead of compatibility and quality.

If one were to take a poll on what questions get asked the most of women, they more than likely will answer that it always has something to do with her appearance, and not how much education she's had or how many children she would like to have, and defnitely nothing with regards to her talents and attributes. Men care very little about whether or not she can hammer a nail or write a poem!
