I think I met an angel today.
I was feeling a little down this morning. OK, "alot" down. So, I decided to treat myself to a french vanilla coffee before going to work. I walked into the convenience store and wondered if everyone was feeling "down" this morning because there was a checkout line about 12 people long. I got my coffee and a croissant (I did tell you I was "alot" down, didn't I) and joined the line to checkout.
Upon leaving the store I noticed an elderly man open my car door and get in the driver's seat. He sat there with a kind of bewildered look on his face. There was another car much like mine about 3 parking spaces down so I realized that he had just gotten into the wrong car.
I approached the open door of my car and smiled at him and said, "so, are you going home with me?". He smiled and said I guess I could if you wanted me to. With that I said, "OK, but I have to tell you, my house ain't no bed of roses".
The elderly man began to climb out of the car, looked up at me and smiled and said, "Well, it's been my experience that beautiful roses don't stay forever, but if you're patient and wait long enough, they always come back". With that he teetered on over to his car and got in. It was then that I noticed that he didn't seem to have anything with him that he had bought in the store - no coffee, no bag, nothing.
I smiled and got into my car. I think I met an angel.
