In light of the recent web-posting of a desperate Britney Spears fan, pleading for understanding and compassion for the fallen pop-star, I find it my duty to make an argument that does not ridiculously and excessively by-pass the point.
My view is from well outside of Ms. Spears's realm of existence, so I apologize for my crossing boundaries that are not mine to cross, and in no way intend to suggest I know where she's coming from or where she's going. I simply offer my opinion on the matter, to which the sole end is to offer advice to those of you who do happen to read this that may assist in both your own lives and in standing up for the simplifying of hers and other celebrities.
It seems that Britney has been raised a child of her audience, a being of society so completely fueled by praise and success that she simple does not understand how to exist without it and/or outside of this cultured environment. Each step she has taken, from the beginning of her career, seems to have been guided by the "desires" of her audience, or the general public. I understand that as a performer that is the point; to sell records you need to give the buying public what they want. I feel that Ms. Spears was never removed personally from these changes. And now, with the continuing criticism, and reluctance of the public to let her back into their fair light, she does not have a place in her own life.
The survival of a celebrity today depends on his or her ability to live within his or her Self, even in the light of cameras and tabloids. No one is in a position to teach them, however, or guide them through this. There are the Dr. Phil's, and the "celebrity psychologist professionals", but they are up against the tabloids, the television shows, the constant berating in effort to bring them not only down to our level, but further beyond, because we as people have found it is easier to stand on people under us, rather than lift ourselves up.
A rant simply to rant, a voice clearly void of the resources to help those in need, I find that no one "real" is willing to step up and offer advice, or unsolicited friendship, in favor of these individuals, especially Ms. Spears.
