Tons of people get spam in their mail every day, especially the ones who sign up for things using their email addresses (which is most often the case). Here are some ways to fight the spam you get.
One of the many ways you get spam is from signing up for different things that involve your email. This can lead to you getting much spam very quickly. One thing you can do is to sign up with an alternate email address. Many places such as yahoo and AOL let you create email addresses, so when you sign up, use your other email address. You can also get an anti-virus program, because most of those (Norton anti-virus, ad ware, spy-bot S&D) have a mail spam separator. Just be sure to check the spam or junk folders regularly, because the programs may put important mail in those folders! Another thing to do is to get some sort of mail reader, such as Microsoft Outlook. This lets you view files before you open them. For the people who don't use an email software on their computer, but use the web version, (ex. mail.yahoo.com)try finding a newer version of the mail. Many of the online mail programs have new versions (sometimes listed as beta versions) which will act like many mail readers on the computer. AOL, Yahoo, and I think Hotmail has a version like that to upgrade to.
To get the mail readers like outlook or outlook express, you must buy the Microsoft office disk (the one with word, excel, power-point, etc.) and when you install it, you will get outlook. Usually, when you set up the mail account, depending upon which mail provider you have, you must contact your service provider for what to put in as outgoing and incoming mail servers (POP and SMTP).
