Planning a children's birthday party can be a lot of fun. Make sure you consider 8 critical things for making their party a huge success.
If you are planning your child's next birthday party at a popular location like Wacky Warehouse that is a good idea. If you are planning a garden/house party with your child's favorite theme, that sounds good, too. The fact is, kids will be really happy with their birthday party, as long as these factors are considered, and it won't matter to them if their party is at the local cricket club or a nearby park. Here are what I consider to be the most important factors when arranging a children's birthday.
Friends:
Nothing makes a birthday party more exciting to a child then to see her friends from nursery/school there. Who does she want there? Good friends. Friends that she knows and feels comfortable with, friends she has a lot of fun with. Make sure you pick a date when your child's best friend can come.
Presents:
The almighty present can put a smile on your child's face and make her feel like a queen. It is funny how the party guests get just as excited to watch the birthday girl open the gifts, as she is opening them. Just be sure that she knows to thank the person who gave her it after she opens it. A little spotlight for the guests!
Party Bags:
Kids love to get party bags when they are leaving a party. The anticipation of what might be inside the party bag is enough to send them away without a struggle. Perhaps you can even send a Thank You note in the party bag to avoid having to do that whole process later.
Cake:
The main event! A colorfully decorated cake with tons of icing makes a big hit with everyone at the party. Whether you make the cake yourself or buy a professionally designed cake makes no matter to children. It is just an essential piece to making a successful party. However, if you are holding a themed party try and get the cake to fit in. You'll be amazed at what kids notice.
A Theme:
There must be over a million themes to choose from. You can buy themed party supplies pretty cheaply. It does liven up a party and make the guests feel more excited to see a theme. Maybe the children could dress according to the theme?
Decorations:
If you are having a themed birthday party, chances are there will be decorations to go along with the theme. Decorations are relatively easy to set up. A helium balloon tied to each chair that a party guest sits at around the table is a great way to stretch decorations.
Games etc:
Again, there must be a hundred of party games to choose from for the kids to play. Your best bet is to plan outdoor games, if you can, and let the children run free. Set up stations like an egg relay, the ever popular pin-the-whatever-on-whoever (to go with your theme), etc. Have different sized balls lying around and watch kids instantly create games. Just keep them moving and they will be happy.
Hooters:
It may drive you crazy for a short period of time, but it will help make your child's party a success. The noisemakers will eventually go home with each child, so just take your migraine medicine ahead of time and enjoy!
