We are certainly no safer now than we were before the despicable act of nineteen misguided men. Quite to the contrary, through our response to this act we have inflamed and consolidated the international mistrust of our country. Through our unilateral military intervention in a sovereign country, as a demonstration of our might and technology, we have squandered our economic stability in the world and at home. The stick we now hold is much smaller and we are speaking much louder, the reverse of Theodore Roosevelt's advice when began our move onto the world stage. We have shown our hand and it is only a matter of time before we are called.

The fact that another attack has not occurred on our shores is more likely matter of our sworn enemies trying to top what transpired on 9-11-01, rather than the thousands of new rent a cops that have been hired over the ensuing six years. International terrorism is about making a statement, not just about killing a few hundred shoppers at the local WalMart in some small town in America. These wack-jobs want something big and I shudder to think what they will come up with.

In the meantime they can keep there rank and file zealots busy wreaking havoc over in the Middle East, using that as a crucible to render their next Mohamed Atta who would be willing and able to lead the next big bang message to the "West". We have made no friends in the last six years, and it doesn't seem likely we will be making more anytime soon.

China loves us however and I can only hope they are understanding creditors and allow us to work off our debt. I hope they don't hold our treatment of their countrymen while building our railroads against us. We allowed our elected representatives to place us in this situation and it will be up to us to make ourselves safe. Because they were incapable on 9-11-01, and they have not done anything substantial since to provide for the common defense.
