When I was young I could Run
Run like the wind - I was free
When I was a boy I knew no bounds
I wish that could still be

When I was young I knew love
Her face was heaven sent
Angels were sculpted from her mold
but to heaven my angel since went.

I have lived, truly lived
more than any I know
But more and more i feel it now
It is my time to go.

So son I understand the pain
I know of what I ask
But for me there is no real future here
and I've lost my past

Turn off the machine and let me go
Mourn me not my friend
You must live go on be free
my son please let it end.

At last you understand me
You have let my spirit go
And here in the end I feel peace, I'm free
My son you are my hero.
