Iran's case is totally different from Iraq therefore I don't see USA and allies attacking Iran. Although the case of nuclear weapon development is more threatening if Iran eventually makes one than if Saddam had gotten one. My certainty to this claim is based on the records of past nations.

Remember the Old Persian nations. History has it that the Persians have always had the ability to inflict pains to other nations especially nations they seem stronger than. If then history is correct, Iran will definitely use a nuclear weapon on anybody they want to subdue probably more likely now that there is a kind of muscle flex on nuclear weapon acquisition.

The USA will be skeptical to attack Iran now or in the near future. I predict an attack only when there is a proof without any iota of doubt backed with the support of other world powers and not excluding a Turkey and Russia approval.

Why Turkey and Russia approval? Turkey because any attack to Iran will directly affect Turkey. Presently Turkey is a home to thousands of Iraqi refugees despite not in agreement to an America invasion. In same consequences, because Turkey also shares border with Iran the Iranians will quickly rush into Turkey should there be any war. Furthermore, on logistic purposes, it will be difficult for USA to get a military base from Turkey for an attack on Iran. It will interest you to know that Turkey has a great influence on most surrounding nations to Iran like the Azerbaijan republic, Turkmenistan republic, Kazakhstan republic and Uzbekistan republic; therefore any chances of USA lobbying these nations for a space will always meet an opposition from Turkey.

Russia until today still has a dominant role in this part of the globe. Russia shares same border with nations like Azerbaijan, Turkey, etc that shares same border with Iran. Therefore Russia will have a kind of justifiable reason to oppose a USA attack on Iran. Besides, Russia has always been an anti-America which is not about change; moreover on the issues of Iran developing nuclear weapon, Russia has never spoken categorically against it while playing politics with the issue.

The USA blew the chances of attacking Iran through its hasty attack on Iraq. I think the issue of the Iraq invasion was that Iraq, no Saddam, has a weapon of mass destruction but not the "barbarism" of Saddam. So the celebration of Saddam's fall is a mere shift from the actual fact; the world would have celebrated with USA if there was a finding of nuclear weapon after the Saddam fall. As it stands, USA will want to be very diplomatic on the Iran approach; USA will like to get as many world power approval including Turkey and Russia to get an attack on Iran and that will be almost very impossible for now.
