I attended both a primary school and a high school where I was not taught a thing about religion. Therefor, coming into adulthood, I had a natural curiosity about religion. I remember in grade four we had religious education for a couple of lessons, but it suddenly stopped with no explanations. I am not sure to this day what had happened to make the school drop the subject so quickly, seemingly without giving it a chance.
I did not mind the classes, as it was something I had no knowledge in, and it was pretty good to be able to sit there in class and listen to the bible stories that were told.
To this day I am learning about religion, by reading bibles (of which I own 4 different publications), and by speaking to other people from all sorts of religions.
I have a keen interest to find out as much as I possibly can about religion, from buddhism to christianity, but something I truly believe in is God, Jesus and Heaven.
I don't think that not learning religion in school has in any way affected my personal choices to follow religion up by myself in my own time.
